Tur Abdin

The Tur Abdin is a hilly area in the eastern part of the province of Mardin and the western part of the province of Şirnak. Until a few decades ago home  of a large part of Turkey's Syriac Orthodox community. Famous for its old villages of stone houses and ancient churches and monasteries.
